The Great Marrissa Cooper and Lana Lang Debate .

Greater divides have happened throughout the the course of television history , but none have got the current prime viewers knickers a twist over 2 of the most beautiful persons on tv . Marrissa Cooper and Lana Lang . Perhaps , it's time for a purely scholarly critical analysis over the these 2 ladies . My Ass .

While my aim is not be make this a sense and sensibility debate , you cannot deny the fact that Lana represents sense while marissa represents sensbility . The manner which Lana rationalises the Clark's sudden apperances when she's in danger is just phenomenal. After being saved by Clark countless times , can't she already figure out that Clark is a freak with super powers ? Another point viewers point out is , there is hardly any action between Lana and Clark . Obviously Clark has the hots for her , why not just get it on already . What the hell is she trying to be ? Paragon of Virtue ? Perhaps she's suffering from a Victorian hangover in the 21st Century where krytonite mutates humans . Marissa on the other hand . Well , she openly defies her mother , shoplifts , drinks , sucidal and suffers from mild depression , hardly what i would call a model example for children to follow after . At least you see some action between her and ryan & luke . She makes everyone worry about her even though she thinks whatever she is doing has some good . Such unthinking behaviour just purely characteristic of Marianne . ( check out the similarity in the name ) . Considering how both characters , Lana and Marissa are about the same age , Marrissa is definitely a more accurate potrayal of a normal teen .

Both beautiful persons do attract their fair share of trouble , ie. monsters & vices . I have to say that it's funny after 3 seasons , Lana does not find any additional means of protecting herself and putting herself in danger by wandering alone , tempting evil monsters, pubescent horny boys . Marrissa on the other hand, her family is falling apart and she is turning an alcholic . At least she recognises what are the things that are bad for her , her blame is not staying away from it . A hell of better than trying to attract it .

Boyfriends . Lana in all her beauty cannot get a guy , and she's all frigid and resistant towards Clark's advances . Perhaps she's lesbian or she knows that Clark is a superfreak . Ryan on the other hand is your typical tough guy from the bronx . Not from some far off planet K . The sexual tension between him and marissa is probably what attracts voyueristic viewers week after week . The closest small viewers get to see about sex is probably Lex Luther's naked ... head . I mean the real human head btw . And of course , though both are living with real human foster parents ( though i must say that the folks from OC are a little too rich to be human ), ryan is a real human and clark is a freak .

Clothes . Marissa definitely is a way better dresser than Lana . She wins her hands down . totally .

Friends . Marissa has an entire posse of people , not your typical cheerleader type , but still , she is high profile in school . Lana , well , she seem to only have herself even still occasionally gets into spats of argument with chloe , one of clark's close friends . Maybe she's trying to befriend one of those smallville freaks around when she's out wandering alone .

All in all , i must say that Marissa is definitely better character than Lana . Note that this is a Marissa VS Lana piece . Not a Mischa Barton VS Kristen Kreuk piece . But of course , if ever a time there needs to be a debate on that . It's obvious who will win .
